MSN #1 - Niche Marketing With Easy Techniques

Many people often forget about the usefullness of Yahoo and MSN and soley focus on Google.  While Goole is the superior powerhouse in the search engine business, there is stikll sales and traffic to come from Yahoo and MSN.

A few months back I wrote an ebook that received as much controversial debate as it did praise.  After achieving numerous #1 rankings in Google, Yahoo and MSN I decided it’s actually kind of cool to have critics when you can come up with results that ANYONE can reproduce.

The site I did this with was just a plain html site http://www.dog-bowls.org

The e-book was called Backlink factory and if you aren’t putting these tactics to use you’re missing out.

I want to show you below how I am taking a small amount of "work" and profiting nicely from it.  In fact I achieved the #1 out of 8 million spot on MSN for the term "Dog Bowls" using the simple methods outlined in backlink factory.  I achieved this rank in just a few months.

Here’s exactly what I did to achieve this rank.

First I started off with my typical keyword research.  If you missed some of my previous walkthrough and videos you can see how I do my keyword research here.

Then I select my keywords to base my site around.  I then built the web site and got the site indexed with google by submitting a sitemap and social bookmark the site using stumble upon, dig and reddit.

After that I had a ghostwriter write 4 articles on various dog bowl topics and keywords and submitted them to submit your article.  Using their article leverage tool i was able to create several unique copies of the original 4 articles.

About 10-12 days later I submitted my site to Isnare.  Sometimes on isnare you’ll not get all your links counted but i still find it worth while to do.

In the resources boxes I optimized my anchor text coming back for the main keywords "dog bowls" and I also made an extra link in each one that goes to it’s corresponding page within the site.

I also added a couple of press releases and submitted them to 2 press releases sites.  I used the free press release versions, not the paid.  Sites like inewswire work well for this.

A couple months down the line I had landed the #1 spot for a term that is getting searched 40k broad a month and about 9k exact terms.  MSN is only about 12-15% of that but it’s still "extra" traffic.  Other words in the site are ranking high on google and I get traffic through that as well.

About a month later I added Link Serp to this site to give it even more fire power and help maintain my rankings.  The extra link that link serp generates work nicely for niche markets.

Each month this site lands some decent sales and if I really wanted to monetize it more I could create an e-book to sell on the site as well - add a better opt in list.  To rank higher in Google I could also submit more articles, press releases and really work on my link building.

The point of this was to show you just how easy it is to get ranked in the search engines.

Give the technique a try you’ll like how well it works.  If you need niche markets to promote try a program like Niche Profit Gold.  Some people who are in the program are launching similar techniques to this.  I’m looking forward to hearing all of your great results.

Easy Affiliate Niche Marketing $76.31 From 415 Unique

I want to show you how just one small semi static site I made earned $76.31 from a brand new website in just 5 weeks on just 415 Unique visits.

$57.40 of this came from a clickbank affiliate product and $18.91 came from adsense clicks.  It did not take many clicks to bring that either.

I should also mention this site landed #1 on MSN in just 3 weeks and it now rests at #3 for the main keywords and I have barely worked on this site.

Here is the website… http://www.video-game-tester.org

Here is the screen shot of the sales

*Names and other vitals have been blocked out to protect the innocent.

affiliate marketing stats

The only 2 to look at there are the ones highlighted in red.

Screenshot of the 415 unique visits….

affiliate marketing made easy

Let me show you exactly what i did so you can duplicate or beat my results…

1st - I did some research for the term video game tester in Google Adwords Tool.

I used exact match to find how many searches per month.

I noticed while doing my search that there were several good words for this niche that I could use.  So i copy and pasted each word I was interested in into notepad and saved it so I could go on to the next step.

2nd- I loaded up Niche Research Commando and looked at each word.

This took me just a few minutes since it instantly gave me all the top 10 competitors on google and shows me how many backlinks each site has.  I simply did this for each keyword to determine if it was worth going after.

From here I checked out my competitors sites to see which affiliate programs they were promoting.  If I would have found them to not be promoting affiliate products I would have simply search clickbank or any other affiliate network to find something to promote.

3rd - I decided on 5 keywords I wanted to base my site around including the main words video game tester.

Seeing there were alot of other marketers marketing Video Game Tester style sites I figuered landing a top 10 for the main words would take some time.  So I wanted supporting pages to help land sales for words that were being searched but less marketed or perhaps even overlooked by other marketers.

I actually only ended up making 3 pages to the site based on my keywords.  I still have the others to add I just got busy and never went back to it.  I’ll add these later on to give google something FRESH to look at.  The big G likes fresh content in all of my experiences with it.

4th -  I built the outline of the site and then had my content writer write 5 - 200-250 word content articles.  This was done much in the style of what I use from Niche Profit Gold.  You just modify , plug the content in and go.

I bought the domain name I wanted and installed wordpress.  It took me about 20 minutes since I use Bluehost I don’t have to wait for the site to propegate as it features an all in one domain registar and hosting for $6.99/month.

These were designed to simply plug into my site based on my keywords.  Although I never added some of the content I still have it ready to go for when I decide to update the site.  I modified each one slightly to fit exactly what I wanted for the site which took me just a couple minutes per content article.

At this point I had to stop working due to other obligations.  It would take me 10 days to get back to the project.  However, the results would have still came out the same since I hadn’t added content yet.

I added my affiliate products onto the site with a picture and made the pictures clickable with my affiliate links embedded into them.

5th- I then submitted the site to google with a sitemap as well.

The sitemap will help you get indexed faster.  It will also allow you to update your content for google later on with ease.  Since you’re not building giant mega sites a sitemap won’t do much else for you here.  Although I avoid building the gigantic sites myself and actually think it’s very hard to keep on topic the bigger the site gets.

6th -   I contacted my writer again and had her design 5- 500 word articles.

I then submitted them with this service, however submitting to several top article directories would be fine to.  Some of the top directories are Ezine Articles, Go Articles and Article Factory.  I only ended up submitting 3 of the articles and still have the other 2 to submit when I get back into the swing of it.

If you don’t have an article writer you can hire one at places like need an article and find someone who will do the writing for you.  Usually this is pretty cheap but for good 500 word articles it can cost as much as $15 each so just makes sure you get the best price possible and sorry my writer is not available for hire, haha she’s all mine :)

You could also write them yourself which isn’t a bad way to get started.  Next, I plugged the site into linkserp for some automated link building… just the way i like it.  Since I already had several sites in their program I knew the system worked well.

1 Week later I submitted the site to a few mid range PR directories.  All of them were free to use.

Overall I spent about about 4 hours total on the project and maybe a little less.  I could have spent a little more time and made the site more presentable and profitable by adding a couple more pages, an opt in form (to collect emails to make future sales and of course I could have submitted the other 2 articles.

I could also test and put adsense in better locations on the site.  This is also a niche that gets a lot of younger kids looking at it so it loses some potential conversions due to that.

I can imagine the conversation… "Mom, Can I have $50 to Buy a Guide on Making My Career as a Video Game Tester?"  Ugh…. No :)

In time I will do more with the site.  But I can’t complain because the site pulled $76.31 in 5 weeks.. which is nearly $1000 a year doing very little work from this one site.

The site now has about 10 keywordsd in the top 10 on google and again the main keywords are #3 in MSN at the time of writing this.

The programs I used to do this all cost a small amount of money but doing this with multiple sites can add up to a substantial income yearly.  Most affiliate sites I build make alot more than $76.31 a month but this demo was put together to show you how easy you can start making some reoccuring affiliate income.

Uncovering Profitable Niches

Most of you know that I profit from Niche Marketing and it’s one of my favorite ways to earn passive income online.  It’s also one of my passions to show others how to succeed.  I decided to shoot a video today to really help you understand how to do some great research.

I am going to show you a couple of tools I have been using that cut my research time into fragments and show you the exact way I dig for niches.  P.S.  There is a fortune right under your nose!

I’ll even show you where I start looking for a niche before I even start keyword research.

#1.  The first tool I use is Niche Research Commando, as it helps drastically reduce the time it used to take to find a niche.  In fact, I loved the tool I sent John a testimonial with my thoughts.

#2.  I also do research with the free versions word tracker and google adwords.

I then use a combo of checking places like the news, malls, ads for commercials and some other sources that you’ll see in the video.  Keep in mind there are numerous other resources than what I am showing in the video too.  :)

Google Keyword Tool Has It’s Uses

google keyword tool

With so many keyword tools on the market it’s sometimes hard to tell which way you should go.  In fact, the stats from keyword tool to keyword tool often vary enough that it’s hard to tell if any of them are accurate.

About a month ago, Google changed their Adwords Keyword Tool and added actual numbers instead of the ugly green bar.  Now you can see actual numbers showing up instead of the green bar for search results.

Make sure to change your setting to "Exact Match" though otherwise you’ll pull up some astronomical broad match numbers that aren’t as realistic as the exact match type.

You can also use this tool to see adwords competitors which is good.  This will help you determine a profitable niche if you like to display a lot of adsense on your sites.  Typically the higher the green bar, the more search results, the higher the payout.  Then you could just put together a high paying adwords site and start getting it ranked in the search engines.

All in all I have to say I like the tool.  Like all keyword tools though the results are approximate values and not an exact science.

What I actually like to do is use Google Adwords tool to start, then check my keywords again in the Word Tracker tool.  If I really want to get serious I will buy a month subscription from word tracker to really dig deep into my keywords.  But, my recent research has been started with the Adwords tool.

Doing this will help you see a little more accurate results by comparing what the two different networks have to say.  Keep in mind that it would be impossible to give an accurate count of searches per month or determine accurate results for the future.

I have had better results when I’ve planned my sites based on the stats from both tools instead of just one.  If I’m really unsure of search results stats coming up I’ll even check my keywords in a 3rd tool, Keyword Discovery Tool.

This might seem like a long process but we should be taking any niche we want to tackle, seriously.  Using a method like described above will help you better prepare to conquer your competitors.  :)

Linkserp Review

My Review on Linkserp

Over the last couple months I’ve been testing some new strategies and one of the greatest system I’ve ever used for link building is linkserp.  This system automatically builds backlinks for you while you work on other projects.  It works in a similar fashion to Jon Leger’s 3 Way Links.

In June I built 10 mini sites, to test this program and got them all in the top 10 for various keywords across all three main search engines - Google - Yahoo and MSN ranked in the top 10.  Even more surprising some climbed into the #1 spot on MSN and Yahoo within just a few weeks.

All in all all 10 mini sites have had several adsense clicks and I have landed 16 sales between all 10 mini sites from affiliate programs I added side by side with the adsense.  Not bad for an extra 5 minutes of work, eh?

Some of the main keywords I am targeting are also not the easiest to crack, but again they aren’t the dating niche either.  However, just shows that link building mixed with correctly optimizing your website can be a lethal combo for your opposition.

Here are some stats on how the program works.  You basically add your websites to their system (takes 5 minutes) and within 2 months you’ll have around 250 one way backlinks generated to each website you add to their system.

One way backlinks are the best kind for your website.

The membership is just $19.99 per month and allows you to put 50 web sites into their system.  Even if you only make $2 a day from 50 web sites, that’s $100 a day or $3000 a month.  So your profit would be $2980.01 per month.  I’ll take that any day of the week.

I fully believe you should be making at least $2 a day per mini site within 2 months using this program and actually believe that number is rather low…. unless you are promoting micro niches that have less than 2 searches per day.

I believe this system works well.  I have tested it out thoroughly and have been 100% satisfied.  However, If you need 20,000 back links this system is not for you.  However, if 250 back links will make a difference in your search engine ranks (most would benefit) then this is for you.

Niche Research Part 2

A week and a half ago I started a post about niche research and more importantly, where and how to start it.  If you missed it you can take a look at the first post here.

My last suggestion in the last post was to start your niche research with these ideas.

*Think of products you use daily

*Think of products your family uses

*Think of things that are not accessible in every grocery store

*Ask yourself does this have value to the person buying it?

So once you’ve started trying to think of niches you can get involved in your need to ultimately settle down and pick one and begin doing keyword research on it.   But, even before keyword make sure you understand the niche you want to market.

One thing I like to do is do a wikipedia search if I am unsure about a certain niche.  Usually Wikipedia has some pretty good info about almost anything.  Sometimes they get it wrong, but that is bound to happen when users power your content.

Digging into keyword research…

I had created a video a little while back to really help someone get an idea of how to start digging into the keyword research.  You can view that here.

Keep in mind that is just the beginning of the whole process.  To really break down keyword research you can take it a step farther.  Last week I talked about a clever tool I use to do fast niche research you can read about that one here.

If you really want to see how well a niche does you can run a cheap adwords campaign based around your keywords.  I do this with a lot of niches I get involved with.  It won’t show you how much traffic the entire internet will bring you but it will show you what kind of traffic could come from Google itself.

Don’t spend more than 3 or 4 days on this test and make sure that you keep your cost low $2-$3.  Remember you just want to see how many impressions your keywords get over the course of a few days to see what potential exists.  Keep in mind you’ll want to spend enough to make your ad appear on the front page.

What this will do is allow you to see if there is any activity or the amount of activity that you want to build your niche around.  If traffic volume is low you may want to consider a different set of keywords to build your niche around or another niche altogether.

Keep in mind Google is about 55% of the Internet’s traffic, maybe a little more or a little less.  So there is more traffic out there but typically the majority comes from Google.

That’s it for this weeks keyword research and niche finding next week we’ll go over finding profitable niches and determining if a niche is profitable or not.

Pete’s Bad RSS Report and Tool Get Me 9/10 top 10’s fast!

Recently I was talking to Peter Drew via skype and he threw me into a world I was, until now, unfamiliar with.  In case you don’t know Peter Drew, he is the creator of the Popular Bad A** Report series.  Pete and I discussed RSS Feeds and where I was actually losing some easy traffic and sales at.

Now, I’m not the master of all marketing but it was hard to swallow someone showing me that I am missing traffic and sales.  For one because my business has been based around me getting traffic and sales.  :)  However, Pete opened up a new window of opportunity that I just happened to not be experienced at.  That topic was how to utilize RSS feeds to the max.  What I learned blew me off the map!

We agreed that I wanted to learn and I wanted to flip through his manual and learn for myself (I wanted to test to see if the product works without having him tell me how to use it).  I flipped through the report and watched one short 10 minute video and I must say by the end of the video I was a bit drawn in.

Was it a good marketing technique or was it simply going to floor me when it worked?

After about 4 hours of testing and 10 keywords later I was blown away with the results.  I tested his RSS feed tool and 9 out of 10 keywords I tested were in googles top 10 in just about an hour after they were all listed….

So, how did I do it?  First I snagged a trial copy of Pete’s Bad A** RSS Report and tool for $1 right here.  You can also watch the awesome videos right off the page there and they will really open your eyes to a new revenue source.

I followed the instructions he lays out in the report that comes with the software and the videos.  I created the blogger blog in under 10 minutes that Pete instructs us to do in the video, launched my feed out there and BOOM in under 1 hour I uncovered my first hot niche.  I was getting traffic fast as well!

The other 8 keywords that did well for me took just under 4 hours in total and Keep in mind before reading Pete’s report I had never utilized my RSS feeds before.  In fact, I honestly didn’t know what good they were for - Now I do :)

What this allowed me to do is uncover the hot niches keyword phrases I wanted to test out and see if they were going to be worth getting into google’s top 10.  When the keywords showed up in google’s top 10 in under an hour each I knew I just found a niche I could go easily dominate!

A couple of my keywords had over 700+ searches a day.  (Nope, I’m not giving them away as they pertain to some of my personal niches).  I will show you a couple of my screen shots for one of the keyword phrases I went after though.

This made it to #4 on google in just under an hour without quotes.

In quotes it made #1 again in just under 1 hour.

After testing I knew if I wanted I could make a niche site based on my keywords and easily dominate google probably withing 3-4 weeks.

Meanwhile I could eat off of my Feed that directed people from my the feed in the search engine to my web site until my site over took higher ranks for the same keywords :)

Do you see the power in this tool yet?  I am talking that in a day I could uncover and unlimited number of hot niches and build an empire over the next month!

I’ll add more on my progress with this later but all you need to get started is Pete’s tool it’ll only set you back $1 to try it then it’s an insanely low monthly price if you decide to keep it.  From now on I’ll never search niches without this tool again.  In fact, at the time of writing this it’s only $27 a month…

Diamond in the Rough? How to find your Niche

Have you been struggling to find your niche? That diamond buried in the rough. If you are struggling don’t be concerned many others are right there with you. The hardest thing to do sometimes is come up with an idea of a niche to start promoting. Sure you could start with the keyword research and scan KEI indexes for the the top keywords but can you monetize the site?

My friend and business partner mentioned to me the other day my knack for finding niches fast, promoting them and ranking them. I guess I had never really thought about how easy it comes to me. SO, he asked me for some advice on finding his niche to promote and today I want to share that with you. In fact over the next 4 weeks all I am going to focus on on my blog is niche research.

The first lesson we talked about was learning to find a niche you’d LIKE to promote.  I know you’ve probably heard a lot of recent marketers say go where the money is and go for the big kills.  There is a lot more competition in those big kills however.  So I suggest finding something you think would be fun or unique to promote.

So I said John grab a piece of paper and what I want you to do is a little bit of brainstorming.  I then instructed him to think of 5 things that he does everyday or uses that can’t be found in everywhere.  So he did and he came up with a pretty good list really.

He likes wine and honestly could have made an entire list around products about wine.  Not every town has a wine store in it.  Sure the local grocery store might but I doubt they have what a real wine drinker would like.  I had him continue with his list anyways.  Keep in mind that brainstorming and jotting things down is a great way to get your ideas and put them into action.

Plus, who has time to remember all of those keywords?  I don’t, my memory is horrible.

He ended up coming up with a list of about 15 things total, pretty quickly.  That’s when he realized he could uncover his own hot niches.  He then realized everyone could do this.

Here are a few more ideas to get you started.

*Think of products you use daily

*Think of products your family uses

*Think of things that are not accessible in every grocery store

*Ask yourself does this have value to the person buying it?

Next, week we’ll go into digging a little deeper into your product selection.

But, first make that list!

Debt Free Internet Marketing

What is Freedom? I mean, really think about it. What does it mean to be FREE? If you live in a free country you’ll still find nothing is free. We pay for everything from water (which is a basic necessity for us to live) to food, clothes, shelter ect.

The Money Trap

With those things being not really free, imagine the other things that can drain our money. Typically, people believe they do not have enough money in general. The problem sometimes isn’t that we don’t have enough money, but rather, we spend it stupidly - Myself not excluded.

A year and a half ago I made a choice that I wanted to be debt free by the time I was 35. I discovered the internet and started learning EVERYTHING I could learn all while working a job that took 55-60 hours a week . I started working day and night trying to learn how to make money online.

Within a few months I started seeing results of my hard work paying off. Within a short year I was able to start helping others achieve their financial goals as well. It wasn’t an easy road but I made that CHOICE.

Choice is the keyword that I want everyone to keep in mind while reading this. I can preach to you and walk you through a ton of ways to make money but if you don’t make the choice to use them it won’t do you any good.

OK- let me get back on topic here. The choice I made a year and a half ago wasn’t to start making 7 million dollars a year. Rather, it was a choice to become DEBT FREE. To do that I was going to have to make an income outside of my regular job which meant the internet marketing/affiliate marketing - would be the way and I was going to have to work hard to do this.

This meant letting go of some of my FREEDOMS. It meant not buying coffee from Starbucks everyday or going out to eat 3 times a week. It meant no summer vacation for a couple of years and limited gifts for my wife and soon to be son. Christmas also took a back seat.

But I began planning and within 6 months I was able to tackle a major Credit card, Pay off my Wife’s Vehicle completely(which we still owed $13,000 on when I first started. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t easy. I had a lot to do. I forgot to mention earlier that my son was born in the meantime, which meant I had to become more productive with limited time.

So I came up with a system that I use to this very day. In fact, it’s very simple. But, hopefully this will be useful for other people as well.

1. Pay myself first. I pay myself 25% of everything I make. It can be used for spending purposes for anything my wife or I want. This includes gifts, dinner out, new clothes ect. When first starting this plan if you can’t afford 25%make it 15% or less if you must. The goal is to get it to where 25% of your money can be used for whatever you want.

2. Tithe. The next 10% I make gets tithed to church. I believe God has given me the abilities he has for a reason, so I render what is his to him. You may not believe the same things I do so you can use this 10% for whatever other purpose you’d like.

3. Pay the bills. Now the bills get paid. This includes the house, cars everything. Overtime get the things paid off that are constant money sucking things. Credit cards, cars, the house, loans. You’ll want to pay them off completely. You must build yourself to that point first. Pay things off one at a time and go from there. Once once thing is paid off, go to the next.

4. Invest the rest into your business being sure to save as much as possible. This will help you build your bank account and income.

The reason for percentages is because this way you never live above your means. Once you get your finances straightened out you’ll be in good shape which means less hours of working.

I didn’t quit my day job until I got to where I wanted to be in affiliate and internet marketing. That also meant a lot of BIG bills had to be paid off. The key was adjusting my income to live within my means. It was a small sacrifice to be where I am today.

In closing this post I’ll be 29 in a month. If I wouldn’t have made the choices I made not long ago I may still be drowning in debt. It was understanding that I/You don’t have to make Millions every year to end up being debt free.

This post isn’t to brag but to show you a realistic way to reach your OWN goals. If you are struggling with affiliate and internet marketing and need some help I highly suggest getting a copy of my e-book Affiliate Marketing Power Series. It will help set a realistic plan in place for you to quit your day job for good.
