With so many keyword tools on the market it’s sometimes hard to tell which way you should go. In fact, the stats from keyword tool to keyword tool often vary enough that it’s hard to tell if any of them are accurate. About a month ago, Google changed their Adwords Keyword Tool and added actual numbers instead of the ugly green bar. Now you can see actual numbers showing up instead of the green bar for search results. Make sure to change your setting to "Exact Match" though otherwise you’ll pull up some astronomical broad match numbers that aren’t as realistic as the exact match type. You can also use this tool to see adwords competitors which is good. This will help you determine a profitable niche if you like to display a lot of adsense on your sites. Typically the higher the green bar, the more search results, the higher the payout. Then you could just put together a high paying adwords site and start getting it ranked in the search engines. All in all I have to say I like the tool. Like all keyword tools though the results are approximate values and not an exact science. What I actually like to do is use Google Adwords tool to start, then check my keywords again in the Word Tracker tool. If I really want to get serious I will buy a month subscription from word tracker to really dig deep into my keywords. But, my recent research has been started with the Adwords tool. Doing this will help you see a little more accurate results by comparing what the two different networks have to say. Keep in mind that it would be impossible to give an accurate count of searches per month or determine accurate results for the future. I have had better results when I’ve planned my sites based on the stats from both tools instead of just one. If I’m really unsure of search results stats coming up I’ll even check my keywords in a 3rd tool, Keyword Discovery Tool. This might seem like a long process but we should be taking any niche we want to tackle, seriously. Using a method like described above will help you better prepare to conquer your competitors. |

Thanks Michael. I’ve been spending a bit of time with the new Adwords Tool by Google, and really am helped by your further suggestions to fine tune potential niche keywords. Thanks!

This is a very rehashed tip used in a lame attempt to sell word tracker and keyword discovery.

Guru,
If you’ll notice there isn’t a single affiliate link in the above post. Sorry to disappoint you and your well thought out theory. I don’t even affiliate with either of those programs…
Also I’ll point out I reported the adwords tool the very first day the changed over to the new statistics.
Perhaps, this was just a lame attempt to add another back link to your website?
So, thanks for your post and have a great one! Make it a cold one
Michael,
Thanks for the heads up! I agree about the problems between different kw tools and as far as the Google kw tool, I had not been using it all until you pointed out that it was now showing “real” numbers instead of their almost useless bar graph.
And guru, thanks for demonstrating that there really are some dummies doing Internet Marketing today. Glad to see how intelligent some of the competition is (not) today! I’m missing where you see an affiliate link? It’s simply a good tip.

I think what we’re all missing here is that guru was trying to make affiliate commissions by subtly sending people to Guru.com with his invisible affiliate link.
Don’t give Guru air time guys…..effort an all that….
Hi Michael.
Want to say first that you are the best teacher ever!! Seriously. I’ve had the misfortune to have known a few so called teachers over the last 8 months and so i know. Like all of us, I’ve got the long story to tell, but won’t bore you with it. Basically I spent the first 6 or 7 of those months, sifting out the rubbish. Although when i came back to it after a couple of months i was amazed at how much i’d actually learnt.
You and the NBK system have changed it all for me. Not looking back now.
Anyway, I have just finished building my very first website, my sons cant believe how determined I’ve been, feels amazing to have finally done it. I’m really poor, have been for over a year, and making some good money would be amazing, but more over i just love it. Challenging isn’t the word. But with all the stuff you give us, i know there is always an answer to my questions. Its weird, when i’m thinking “I DONT GET IT!! AAAAAA!!” there you are with the answer. A video maybe or some other fab stuff. I can tell you’ve been where we all are. So thank you, for getting me to where i am now, but more for where i will be, hopefully soon….EEEEK
Here’s the thing, i really need your personal input on my finished site, i’m really so proud of it, but not sure if I’ve got it right. For a few reasons. Not sure about the theme functionality, not sure about back links what they do or are, google indexing, articles content???? well, i’m sticking on a few things.
Your honest input and sound advice would help loads. I feel like i’m flailing around now, not sure what i should be doing.
Hope to hear from you soon on the above email I’ve given.
Sincerely
Deb.
