Important Note: You can make money online. Thousands of people are doing it every single day. However, it's important to understand that making money online from home doesn't happen over night. As in everything we do, even with a blueprint, you must work at it and put in the time to learn. There is risk involved in everything including making money from home. Not everyone who tries this will make as much money as I do and in fact it possible you won't make anything at all. The more time and practice you put in the more chance of success you have. Get rich schemes do not exist and anything I talk about is not claimed to be one. If you're looking to get rich over night you're on the wrong site. If you're looking to build a long lasting affiliate marketing business and understand the last couple of paragraphs you're in the right place.

Is Link Building Ethical?

Posted by: | Comments (12)

Unethical links?

Link building is a practice that increases traffic to your website, increases visibility and helps your website increase in the search engines rankings.  Ultimately, this helps you make more money.

However, one question I see over and over again is:  Can I post a link there?  And, isn’t it shady to build links in such and such a way? Are automated tools unethical?

I do believe there are shady ways to build links and ways that I never would do it. An example of something I would never support is comment spamming.  This is where you visit other people’s blog and drop off comments that have no relevance to the conversation only for the purpose of a backlink.

There are tools that do the bulk of that work (trust me I wade through hundreds of SPAM comments each week on this blog alone!)

However, I do believe there is good commenting.  If you visit a blog and join in on a conversation and add a link back to your site in your name field, that’s great!  You are contributing to a community and adding value.  Even if you automated this process I’d still be fine with it.

But, that still raises the question on tools that post your links to article directories or networks.  This is especially true with tools that do this on autopilot or semi-autopilot.  Are they ethical?

I’ve discussed my love for 1 Way Links quite a while ago right here.

Here is my take.  Time is limited and tools only help speed up everything you do.  Link building will always be a grey area where many will question even the most ethical ways of link building.

I would rather use tools that automate link building rather than hand-build everything.  Sure, in the beginning everything I did was by hand as I didn’t know any better.  You might be the same way but, there will come a time where you’ll want automation to open up more free time.

Last week I mentioned a tool called digi auto links.  It’s simply another tool to automate link building and pingbacks.  It’s also a real time saver.  But, the reason I bring this up is because this tool posts to social sites and other relevant blogs with like topics and of course links back to yours.  In testing, I’ve been really impressed.

So here is why I bring those 2 tools up specifically.  I believe both are ethical and to me ethics are HUGE.  I would never do anything I thought was wrong in anyway.  I know, it’s straight laced but that’s how I’ve been for years.

But, my ethics don’t matter here.  It’s all about YOU.  Only you can decide what you believe is ethical or not.  I’ve had people argue with me that simple comment spamming is harmless and that there is nothing wrong with it.  I disagree – but, that was someone else’s opinion.

My final thought on this is if it automates a process you were going to do anyway, why would you not use a tool?  Save yourself some time, hang out with your family more; build more to your business so you can make more money faster and spend less time worrying about the mundane task of link building.

What are your thoughts?  I’d love to hear them.

This is a serious question and one I have to ask.  It’s also one that you need to understand if you are going to become an online success story.  Let me explain.

Often I hear from people who are just about to join my Niche Blitzkrieg course or have just joined it and they’ll say something like “Well, I hope this makes me money!” or “I hope this works.”

I’ll be honest I simply cringe anytime someone says one of those, or similar phrases to me.  The reason that phrase bothers me is because that’s the exact opposite of my mindset when I came into the whole Internet making money thing we’re doing here.

My mindset coming in was “I’m going to put all of my free time into this and make it happen.  I’m not going to fail and I am going to quit my job.”  This is the mindset of champions, those who will succeed and those who have the best chance at success.

I absolutely hate the word “hope” and that’s because I believe we can control much of our own success.  Aside from hope the next thing that will absolutely cause complete failure is just not trying.  It’s pretty obvious but if you’re not going to do anything you’re not going to make money and even “hope” can’t help you there.

You need to come in with a clear mind and understanding that there is a lot of money to be made online.  With so much money out in the Internet world, there is no reason for you to not make money online.  That last statement is especially true if you come in and just tell yourself you’re going to make money and you’re going to do this online thing and make I happen.

I know this post isn’t long but I wanted to share this wisdom with you today.  I share this because I feel like people sometimes assume making money online is luck and as you can probably tell I don’t believe luck has anything to do with it.

Let me know what you think below!

So what’s Google +1 all about?

Basically, it’s a new free service that acts somewhat like the Facebook ” Like” button.  But does anyone actually believe it starts and ends with just the social connection?

I don’t.

I believe there is more to it than just another “like” button.

In fact, Google has a lot to say about how this may affect search engines rankings, indexing and social proof of popularity.  So let’s analyze exactly what Google says about their new +1 button and then see if you think this is useless for yourself.

(The questions and answers below are taken right from Google +1 page -(http://www.google.com/intl/en/webmasters/+1/button/index.html)

Does +1 affect search results rankings?

Google Says:

+1 helps people discover relevant content—a website, a Google search result, or an ad—from the people they already know and trust. Adding the +1 button to your pages lets users recommend your content, knowing that their friends and contacts will see their recommendation when it’s most relevant—in the context of Google search results.

When a signed-in Google user is searching, your Google search result snippet may be annotated with the names of the user's connections who've +1'd your page. If none of a user's connections has +1'd your page, your snippet may display the aggregate number of +1's your page has received.

So basically in the search engine listings anytime someone gives your site a +1 it will show up beside your listing (think: social proof).

Sound important yet?  Let’s look at another question on this page.

Does +1 affect my site’s performance in search?

Google says:

Content recommended by friends and acquaintances is often more relevant than content from strangers. For example, a movie review from an expert is useful, but a movie review from a friend who shares your tastes can be even better. Because of this, +1’s from friends and contacts can be a useful signal to Google when determining the relevance of your page to a user’s query. This is just one of many signals Google may use to determine a page’s relevance and ranking, and we’re constantly tweaking and improving our algorithm to improve overall search quality. For +1's, as with any new ranking signal, we'll be starting carefully and learning how those signals affect search quality.

Hmmm.  It looks like Google has a plan for this to affect search rankings eventually.  I’d be willing to bet they already have a framework in place for this.  Again, social proof looks like it might affect search rankings soon enough.

And finally….

How will the +1 button affect my traffic?

Google says:

Personalized annotations next to your page in search results may increase your site’s visibility and make your site’s snippet more compelling, which may in turn increase the odds that users will click through to your page.

It looks like having the +1 will increase visibility in the search engines and draw attention to your snippet at least in the Google search engines.

So how do you get a +1 button on your blog posts so you can reap the benefits of +1 as it gets more popular in the days to come?  Easy.  Grab a free plugin called: SEXY BOOKMARKS and simply enable the +1 button as well.

Right now it’s still new enough that we don’t know everything.  But, read what Google is saying and determine for yourself.  If you want to read the whole page of F.A.Q. on Google’s +1 button you can read that here… http://www.google.com/intl/en/webmasters/+1/button/index.html

I don’t believe having the +1 button and getting +1’s on your site are 100% critical.  I believe this will simply be something that “helps” increase search engine rankings.  Links, optimization, keywords and good content will always be important but don’t underestimate the social elements like Google +1.

What do you think?  Are you planning on adding the +1 button?

Ohh, and don't forget to give me a +1 if you like this!  :)

Does Mobile Traffic Matter?

Posted by: | Comments (8)

Over the last few years the sales of mobile devices have skyrocketed including Ipads, tablets, Iphones and Smart phones.  These devices allow users to search the Internet and visit your sites. So does mobile traffic like this matter?

Let me show you how to check the mobile stats for a particular keyword.

Watch my video below:

So do this in your Niche and see how much potential mobile traffic is out there in your market. If there are enough mobile monthly searches for any of your keywords make sure you install the Word Press plugin called WordPress Mobile Pack. Just do a search on this in the “Add New” section of your plugin menu and click install and then follow the directions of the plugin.

Thoughts?  Comments?  Already using mobile searched keywords?  And on a side question – how big do you think the mobile industry will become.  You already know my thoughts.
